Claim Your Google Business Profile On Search And Maps Directly

Google My Business has been renamed “Google Business Profile” as Google simplifies and renames its important local search tool.

With the new name comes a completely new way for businesses to claim their profiles, which can now be done directly from Search and Maps.

Everything you need to know about Google Business Profiles is right here.

How to Set Up a Google Business Profile

A quick Google search for the name of your company will yield the option to verify your profile or resolve issues with an already-claimed profile.

This can also be done from your Google Maps profile or by typing “my business” into the search bar.

A claimed and verified Google Business Profile allows you to edit the information that appears in search results when people search for your company.

Merchants who create or claim a Google Business Profile can finish their setup directly on Google Search and Maps.

Because the entire process can be completed in Google Search, businesses will be able to see whether their profile is publicly visible right away.

If it isn’t, Google will tell you what you need to do to make it visible to searchers.

What Does This Mean for Companies?

There’s nothing else you need to do if you’ve already claimed a Google Business Profile (formerly known as a Google My Business listing).

In the future, the most convenient way to manage your profile will be through Google Search and Maps.

For small businesses, the Google My Business website and mobile app are no longer required.

The Google My Business website will remain available for larger businesses to manage multiple profiles from a single dashboard. It will be renamed “Business Profile Manager” over time.

In order to transition users to the new experience, the Google My Business app will be retired in 2022.

Those who use the Google My Business API can keep doing so because it is not being phased out. It will keep all of its current functionality and will be updated in the future.

Google will provide more information about this change in the coming months.
