YouTube creators will be able to make corrections to their videos after they have gone live thanks to a new feature.
Previously, the only way to fix a mistake in a publicly available video was to take it down, edit it, and re-upload it.
Because all watch time and engagement metrics were lost in the process, the old solution caused more problems than it solved.
Instead, if YouTube creators choose to address their mistakes at all, they usually do so by including a note in the description or comment section.
However, this is only useful if the viewer scrolls down the page; if the video is embedded on another website, it is useless.
You can now make corrections to existing videos that are immediately visible while the video is being watched.

What Are YouTube Video Corrections and How Do They Work?
YouTube’s corrections feature is a hybrid of old and new technologies. In the video description section, creators must still point out errors and provide clarification.
The ability to highlight corrections during the video is a new feature with this release.
With YouTube video corrections, you can notify viewers when a video contains an error and direct them to the video’s description section, where the error is clarified.
Viewers will see a card appear at the time of the error when you add a correction to a YouTube video.
The info card teaser will appear once during the video, at the correction timestamp, to indicate the presence of a correction.
When you click on the card, the video description will expand to include any written corrections or clarifications.

While not a perfect solution, it will at least help viewers notice when a creator admits their mistakes and provides the correct information.
