Twitter has received four updates this week, including new ways to react to tweets, new ways to compose tweets, and more.
Many of these features are still in the testing phase, but if they prove to be successful, they will most likely be made more widely available.
Among the new features are:
- Reaction videos on Twitter
- A brand-new composer bar
- A tag bar for topics
- A more convenient way to share Twitter Communities with others
Here’s more information on each of these features.
1. Videos of Tweet Reactions
Twitter is experimenting with tweet reaction videos on iOS.
These reactions, officially known as “Tweet Takes,” can be used as an alternative to quote tweeting.
The feature appears to be directly inspired by TikTok’s video replies, which work in the same way.
Tweet Takes, an iOS test that allows users to create a video or photo when quoting a tweet, is now available.
Traditional quote tweets are still an option.
In response to the announcement of Tweet Takes, Sam Haveson, a member of the Twitter product team, shares an example of a Tweet Take.
If you’re in the test group, after tapping the Retweet icon, you’ll see the option to “Quote Tweet with Reaction.”
Twitter isn’t the first or only social media platform to replicate TikTok’s video responses.
Instagram began allowing users to reply to comments on posts via Reels last month (which is a TikTok clone in and of itself).
Time will tell if this feature is popular or if it will go the way of Twitter’s fleeting Fleets.

Updated Tweet Composer Bar
Twitter is rolling out another iOS test that makes it easier to Tweet by providing easy in-line access via a new composer bar.
The new tweet composer bar appears directly above the bottom navigation menu and replaces the previous big, blue button with the plus-sign that was used to compose tweets.
According to Twitter User Researcher Cody Elam, this is being tested based on user feedback:
“From our research, many people tell us that “it’s hard to Tweet.” One of the problems we hear is that the mechanics of Tweeting make it difficult to get started as a new user.”
Elam goes on to say that when new users sign up, it’s not always clear how to start tweeting.
Because the blue button isn’t familiar to everyone, Twitter is experimenting with something more universally recognized, such as a text box.
If the new composer bar generates more tweets, this change will most likely be implemented more broadly.
3. Tag Bar for Topics
Twitter is working on a topics tag bar for iOS, as discovered by Matt Navarra.
This, presumably, will allow people to jump right to the topics that are most interesting to them.
4. Distribute Communities to Followers
Twitter is introducing a way for iOS users to share communities with their followers in an effort to encourage more people to join them.
In the Twitter app, go to the community page and tap the share button. You can then share it with a larger audience or directly invite individuals.
