Who Viewed Your Posts on TikTok

TikTok is developing a new feature that will let users see who has viewed their posts.

According to a test that was spotted in the wild, TikTok is working on adding viewer history to posts.

You’ll soon be able to see who has watched your TikTok videos, which is yet another piece of information you can use to identify your most active users.

Your followers will be able to see when you view their posts as well, as a trade-off.

If you don’t want to be bothered with that, you can turn off post view history. However, you won’t be able to see your content’s view history.

Like Instagram and Facebook stories, TikTok’s post view history isn’t turned on by default for everyone.

There are some other differences between it and viewer history on other platforms, which we’ll discuss in the next section. The viewer history on TikTok works like this.

How Does TikTok Post View History Work?

Only followers can see TikTok’s post view history, as shown in this screenshot shared by social media expert Matt Navarra:

It states that people you follow will be able to see when you view their posts and that followers will be able to see when you view their posts.

Does this mean that if you wanted to sneakily view someone’s content, you could simply unfollow them?

The decision to limit the view of history in this way is intriguing. It filters the data down to mutuals only, so I assume it’s to accommodate people with large followings.

TikTok’s view history is also limited in time, lasting only seven days from the date of publication.

You’ll have one week to collect viewer history if it’s important to you.

Test Feature Confirmed by TikTok

A TikTok spokesperson confirms the feature is real and available to select users, according to a TechCrunch report.

Nobody knows when it will be more widely available. There’s no guarantee that test features will ever be implemented.

If the test group’s feedback is negative, TikTok may decide to remove or rework viewer history.

It’s just something to be aware of for now, and know that it will be added to TikTok in the future.
